Treatment Process: What to Expect
At Open Water each intervention is tailored to meet your individual needs. A thorough assessment and treatment plan are established in collaboration between you and your primary therapist. Based on the identified needs, referrals may be made to include additional services in conjunction with counseling.
Initial Consultation
Via phone or email, you reach out to Open Water and a triage assessment of your level of care needs is completed. From there, the therapist makes a recommendation and an appointment is scheduled. Forms can be sent to you prior to the session to review and complete.
Assessment
During the first appointment, you meet your primary therapist and begin to build a therapeutic relationship. An initial assessment is completed. This includes presenting problems, mental health/substance abuse history, trauma history, brief medical history, medications, etc. During the initial assessment, both you and your therapist determine if you made need additional services such as psychiatry or case management.
Treatment Plan
Using the assessment, you and your therapist look at the identified needs and build a treatment plan together using measurable goals. You and your therapist can then track the progress of the work you have done throughout counseling. Each goal is pursued through evidenced-based objectives provided by the therapist.
Individual Session Content
A scheduled visit time and frequency is established between you and your therapist in order to work through goals identified in the treatment plan. Throughout sessions, both you and your therapist measure progress and decide when goals are met.
Psychiatric Services
If psychiatry is needed, an evaluation will be set up with our physician staff in order to determine any type of medication needs. A complete medical evaluation occurs as it pertains to any presenting mental health concern. Proceeding the evaluation, medication may be prescribed to you accordingly. Routine follow ups occur to ensure the medication is working properly and side effects are minimal.
Discharge Plan
The goal of Open Water Counseling and Recovery is to provide you with the clinical help needed to stabilize acute issues in the short term, and give you tools to continue recovery in the long term. As you accomplish your goals, you may find you are ready to stop treatment. At this point, your therapist can assist you in ending therapy with the resources needed to be successful.
